Ba-Roque my world...

Prada's Minimal Baroque sunglasses appear to be a style paradox.  At the risk of being Captain Obvious - it's safe to say these sunglasses are far from the standard idea of the minimalism trend.  Nonetheless, how fabulous are they!  Featuring classic curves and sweeping motion shown through swirls that you expect of baroque but that's about where the traditional baroque technique ends.  With the pop of the cobalt blue and the freshness of white I can see these shades becoming a much sought after retro fave!

Like a moth to a flame...

It took quite a while... and a number of international phone calls to obtain this Alexander McQueen moth print cape but at least it shows persistence pays off people!  Alexander McQueen's ethereal cape adds instant interest to an otherwise simple outfit with its kaleidoscopic print and floaty movement.  Finding the beauty in something that would otherwise be considered quite dark or ugly is synonymous with the charm of McQueen.  Who knew moths could be so pretty?  If this outfit was a film it would be lightweight cape, leggings, Wang boots action... and it's a wrap ;)

She's got that (70's) vibe...

It seems to me the pro's of palazzo pants are endless.  Not only are they carefree-chic, a tribute to 70's style but fabulously comfortable - arguably a rarity amongst most trends.  The palazzo pant was featured in many ways throughout the SS11 runway shows including D&G, Just Cavalli and John Galliano where different lengths and patterns were explored or the minimalistic approach as seen at Hermes, Dries Van Noten and Roland Mouret.  Mine meet somewhere in the middle - simple, minimalist beige yet printed (always nicer having the best of both worlds!).

To MJ with L.O.V.E

It is just about near ridiculous the amount of Michael-esque clothing I own.  It seems my subconscious has tipped the deciding scale when determining what inspires my style choices and purchases.  I attended a Michael Jackson tribute party with my favorite girl Ashlea and therefore had a plethora of garb to decipher through.   There are no words that can accurately describe what Michael Jackson meant to me – all I can come up with right now is ‘everything’.    He was in my earliest memories as a child, his music is the soundtrack to my life and his immense love and caring nature for humanity has guided my perceptions as a growing and evolving person.  Now two years on since his untimely death (and let’s be honest, any time would have been painful), it’s important to me to continue celebrating his life and spreading his message – it’s all for love L.O.V.E.

P.S For those who haven’t seen ‘This Is It’ I strongly advise you do.  As a London ‘This is it’ ticket holder it meant so much to me that this footage even existed.  It is a window to his genius and a testament to his unwavering talent and generous nature.

A Flor-iental Express-ion

So a recent work event called for an outfit chic enough to rub shoulders with the fabulous while keeping in line with the Orient Express theme.  All items are my recent purchases so I thought what the hey – let’s (why do I refer to myself in plural?... getting scary) just combine them all together.  This concoction didn’t work out too badly, little bit 70’s, vintage vibe, little bit pagan?  Either way I loved wearing this trench dress as it works amazing as a dress or lightweight trench jacket.  Just to send this floral/oriental theme into overdrive I wore these incredibly textured gold leaf t-bar sandals.

Woman I can hardly express…

My inner feelings on your fabulous-ness!  Quite certain this is what the late John Lennon would write about Kristen Stewart’s red carpet choice at the MTV movie awards.  Now I know it has been a week and a half since the awards aired but I’m still hung up on how K-stew got it so right!  With the punk/rock Americana chic vibe and the voluminous unkempt hair she has certainly re-invigorated the Balmain-iac in me.  Now where did I put my stash of safety pins….

Sweet Home Alexander

OK, I know what you're thinking...this girl must be seriously cray-cray about Alexander McQueen to do anoottthhher post about him.  Ummm no, geez don't be so quick to judge - I'm actually talking about Alexander Wang (but stay tuned because McQueen will more than likely make many more appearances).  Afterall, Dr Phil always said "past behavior is the best predictor for future behavior".. wowza I just got completely off track!  Moving on, I am getting rather giddy at the fact that the cooler weather allows for the appropriate use of boots, leggings and fur!  These Alexander Wang boots, although looking harmless in there chunky-look at me, I'm so stable-heel kinda way are actually completely deceiving.  Trust me, your ankles really know about it after you release them from the vertigo inducing incline they are on after a few hours wear.  In my world however style trumps comfort so who's complaining?
