Pop Culture Pays Off

Some may call me crazy as I believe Michael Jackson is ever-present whether it be in music, dance or... fashion.  Oh how I love it when my case in point is proven, thanks to none other than Nicolas Ghesquiere of Balenciaga! As soon as I saw the FW12 Egyptofunk too cool for school t-shirt collection, I knew I recognised the glitter girl. I had seen her before, time and time again - also enamoured by the glitter stardust that MJ spread across the world... No really, just check out The Jacksons 'Can You Feel It' music video.  That is exactly what's happening, and that is exactly where this image was first spawned.  Genius! Not only was the glitter girl 'borrowed' from this video but the star boy print annnnnddd the wave print from the Egyptofunk range.  I'm yet to read elsewhere online where this inspiration has been acknowledged but I'm totally in love... not to mention it works perfectly with my Prince inspired Haider Ackermann brocade jacket in purple (naturally). POP REMIX PERFECTION!

#Instagram #Fan

Hi, my name is Lucinda, and I'm an Instagram-aholic...
Instagram put simply has me going cell-phone photo mad and did I fail to mention that #I #can't #stop #tagging #everything.....!  This little app found on my little phone means that I know what to do with any little spare time I have.  Yes, this may sound like a slight #obsession (see, again with the tagging!) however I am merely a victim here.  Instagram lures the user under the false pretence that they are indeed an amazing, unbelievably inspiring photographer.  It's like you have discovered a previously untapped talent for taking photos - #reminder -  I am merely a victim.  Enjoyable nonetheless, it pains me to admit that I have not posted here in over two months (not that time is on my side - it flies, it's a fact) and it's all because of easy, breezy, beautiful Instagram!  Awoken from a drunken instagram stupor, I have posted some (and the word 'some' is to be used loosely) of my instagram masterpieces below.

Stuck Between a Rock and a Glitter Place

I wanted to make sure my entrance to the new year was paved in glitter which didn't have me looking far beyond these Alexander Wang glitter drainpipe pants.  They've got the rock star, easy cool attitude you expect from A.Wang and let's face it - I'm attracted to shiny things and anything that'll make me look like I'm about to bust out into a rendition of Billie Jean so it's a win all around!  I'm still very much enjoying the mix of masculine x feminine outfitting so these Christian Louboutin Maggie pumps are as steel cap toe as i'll go! While the steel toe gives them a rough and tumble edge the sky high heel and super shiny (again with the attraction to shiny things...) patent leather aid in femming things up.  Mixing metals and textures was what this outfit was all about - a style sensory salad overload really... I think it delish!

Preying for Direction

Weightless and effortless is how this dress appears but that is just one charming side of this Lanvin one shoulder delight.  When I laid my eyes on this runway SS09 Lanvin dress I knew I would have to starve myself into oblivion to have it - but oh so justifiable!  Alber Elbaz of Lanvin is a master of creating seamless draping, endless folds and amazing silhouettes all keeping within the wondrous Parisian chic aesthetic.  Now just over two years on, this dress still remains relevant with it's aqua blue based fun leopard print which lends a preyful... errhhh playful tone.  Keeping in line with the story of my life, these Nicholas Kirkwood heels were as hard to find as you'd imagine but glory hallelujah these directional aqua sprayed suede heels with lattice detailing were tracked down and added to the pack.  My outfit is comprised of pieces I have had in my repertoire for a while now and it felt great to breathe  new life into them. Revive and survive people! The key is to L.O.V.E what you invest in from the minute you lay your credit card on the line (Savings, I meant savings!)
