It’s no secret that I believe Lee Alexander McQueen was one of fashion’s biggest blessings. He brought wonderment, imagination, creativity and raw beauty in the most elegant, artistic and explicitly tailored ways. He portrayed the beauty in the ugly, the freedom in the mind, and pushed boundaries in ways nobody knew existed and all this through strict, structured and architecturally brilliant tailoring. His uninhibited creative mind paired with a strict method of execution made for a cool contrast.
In memory of his incredible contribution to fashion the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York will be showcasing his works through an upcoming exhibition (May 4th to July 31st). Featured will be pieces from his entire career including his posthumous fall/winter 2010 collection. Previews of the exhibit indicate that this is definitely a must see retrospective of the works of an artistic and savagely beautiful genius - one whom left a hole in the fashion world that will never completely be filled.
